When it comes to business travel, there are a lot of different factors to consider.

One of the biggest decisions you’ll have to make is how you’re going to get from Point A to Point B. If you’re traveling within the United States, you may be considering whether or not Amtrak business class is worth the investment. Let’s take a look at some of the pros and cons so you can make an informed decision.

Amtrak Business Class Pros:

  • Complimentary WiFi – In today’s connected world, it’s more important than ever to be able to stay connected while on the go. Amtrak business class offers complimentary WiFi, so you can stay productive even while in transit.
  • Access to Amtrak lounges – If you’re a member of Amtrak Guest Rewards Select Plus or Select Executive, you’ll have access to the network of Amtrak lounges. These lounges offer a quiet place to work, complimentary snacks and beverages, and other amenities that can make your travels more comfortable.
  • Upgraded seating Amtrak business class seating is more spacious and comes with additional legroom, so you can relax on your journey.
  • Priority boarding – When you’re traveling for business, time is of the essence. With priority boarding, you can avoid the lines and get started on your journey sooner.

Amtrak Business Class Cons:

  • Cost – Amtrak business class tickets are typically more expensive than coach tickets. This may not be feasible for some budget-conscious travelers.
  • Limited availability – Not all trains offer business class service, so you may have to get creative with your travel plans if you’re set on riding in style.
  • Crowded cars – Even though business class cars tend to be less crowded than coach cars, they can still fill up during busy travel times. This means you may not always be able to get the peaceful ride that you were hoping for.

There are a lot of things to consider when deciding whether or not Amtrak business class is right for your needs. If being productive en route is a priority, then complimentary WiFi and access to lounges may be worth the added expense. However, if cost is a concern, then coach might be a better option for you. Ultimately, it’s up to you to weigh the pros and cons and decide what’s best for your individual needs.
