Can Delida Costin lead the group to the next level through a changing media landscape?
Group Black is obviously preparing for big things in it’s latest move. The black media collective has brought Delida Costin on board as Chief Legal Officer (CLO). In this role, Costin will be rebuilding the company’s legal function with the aim of innovating and getting the group ready for new media opportunities like blockchain and meta verse platforms.
“We are thrilled to welcome Delida Costin to our Group Black executive team.” said Mark Larkin, COO and President of Group Black. “Delida’s measured, forward thinking and results driven approach to legal matters is something to be admired. Not only does she bring years of legal expertise, her experience working in digital media makes her uniquely poised to contribute strategically.”
Delida Levels Up Group Black’s Digital Reach

Delida’s tenure at tech and media giants like Pandora and Lynda.com give her credible digital chops, but most impressive is her leadership of Grove Collaborative as Chief Legal and People Officer. Under her legal guidance, the Grove Collaborative merged with a company backed by Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin Group and Unilever PLC’s CEO, Paul Polman to take the company public at a valuation of $1.5 billion.
But her astronomical success has not dissuaded her commitment to the community. “Group Black’s mission and vision are clear and necessary,” says Costin. “For too long diverse communities have not had the same access to information and resources needed to sustain a successful business amid changing economic shifts. I look forward to joining and lending my expertise to Group Black at such a crucial time.”
This is a bold move by Group Black.
Technology is moving fast, and Group Black seems to be going full-speed ahead and embracing it. However, can they make it work? Will Delida Costin and Group Black collaborate successfully to form a seamless legal department that can keep up with the group? Or will she be outclassed and find herself unable to help Group Black succeed in the future world of media?
As for what this means for the company, the announcement hints at some big things.

Specifically, with Costin’s expertise in legal matters tied to popular emerging technologies such as “blockchain and metaverse platforms,” there may be some exciting changes on the horizon for Group Black.
Group Black is looking to the future
And it’s clear that they’re not going to look back on the past as they move forward. They’re looking to innovate, looking to be creative, and looking to stay at the forefront of anything new and exciting that comes their way. If the legal department could use someone like this in their ranks, maybe other areas of the Group Black business could use a shakeup as well?

Either way, we look forward to seeing what Costin brings to Group Black, and to the future world of media.
