Hot 97, the iconic all Hip-Hop radio station, has announced the launch of two unapologetic podcasts, “Savageland” and “2 Chicks With An Attitude,” in partnership with the WOE Podcast Network.
These podcasts are hosted by Black women who tackle taboo topics with honesty and vigor. Launching on March 8 and March 10, these shows promise to explore and dissect relevant and relatable topics, providing a much-needed space for Black content creators to authentically connect with culture and have honest conversations.
The world of media has long been dominated by men.
However, the launch of two new podcasts on the HOT 97 platform is set to change that narrative. These podcasts are hosted and led by Black women who tackle topics that are often ignored in mainstream media.
HOT 97 has partnered with WOE Podcast Network to launch “Savageland” and “2 Chicks With An Attitude” podcasts.
The partnership is set to amplify Black content creators’ voices and provide a much-needed space for authentic connection with culture and real conversations.
Savageland is hosted by Crystal Watson, who brings her extensive knowledge and experience in the singles scene to the show.
The podcast is designed to help listeners navigate the minefield of modern dating. Guests will join Crystal in candid conversations about different perspectives on dating, balancing insights with playful banter.
2 Chicks With An Attitude is the other podcast, where hosts Bre and Kiara bring their lively and audacious perspectives to tackle subjects like sexual freedom, dating younger versus older men, and the government telling women what they can do with their bodies.
The podcast features guests who share their opinions on various topics, making for an entertaining and enlightening experience.
The CEO of MediaCo, Rahsan-Rahsan Lindsay, stated that the partnership with WOE Podcast Network allows MediaCo to support a vital lineup of new Black talent. “As we build out our podcast offerings, it’s important to amplify new and unique voices. Partnering with WOE allows us to feature talent with whom we might not otherwise work. We are excited to see them shine,” said Lindsay.
This partnership is a step towards leveling inequity in the media industry.
The WOE Podcast Network’s mission is to amplify the voices of POC, and the collaboration with HOT 97 aligns with that goal. The Founder and Executive Producer, Erik Gordon, stated, “This content will offer listeners a new way to experience culture, and it will broaden our reach. Through this ongoing partnership with MediaCo, we’re empowering Black creators and leveling inequity in the industry. This is only the beginning.”
The HOT 97 platform is the world’s first all-hip-hop station and has been the dominant position in New York for over 20 years.
The platform reaches audiences across the country via digital video, audio streaming, podcasts, and social media.
The world of media is changing, and the launch of these podcasts is evidence that African American women are making great strides. As more platforms recognize the need to have diverse voices, it presents a significant opportunity for African American women to share their experiences and stories. This is an exciting time, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds.
